There was a time  the Nigerian music industry wasn’t attractive. Nigerians were consuming music from congo, ivory coast, south Africa and the US over their own artist.

There was a time Awilo Logomba, a Congolese artist, was the biggest artist in Nigeria.

Nigerians rocked to their music and enjoyed it.

There was a time Nigerian artist will travel all the way to South Africa just to shoot clean and quality videos for their songs, so they can be on par with their counterparts.

There was a time Nigerian music industry battled piracy for years which was eating deep into the meagre profits Nigerian acts were making back then.

How did the Nigerian music industry overcame all these challenges to become the biggest music/entertainment industry in Africa.

There are so many reasons why Nigerian entertainment industry is big today. population also play a huge factor. Literally, Nigerians are everywhere. Nigerians in diaspora are one big factor in the expansion of afrobeats.

Nigerians also realize that they need to start pushing out quality projects. Back then a lot of Nigerian music and videos couldn’t match the quality of music and videos coming out from these countries.

So Nigerians started to put in the work to produce quality songs and videos, This was also the era when Nigerian artist were going to South Africa to shoot their music videos just to get a professional work done.

Then, there is also a proper structure in place, there are record labels, talent managers, music promoters etc.

Nigerians also started collaborating with American artist  just to break into the American market.

Everything successful about the Nigerian music industry took a lot of sacrifice and dedication
