Tobe Nwigwe is a Houston-based rapper who uses his music to spread positive messages. Tobe can be compared to a big uncle or a father figure to many young black males and females in America. His music conveys messages of love, black family, aspirations, and dreams.

Tobe has repeatedly and consistently demonstrated how to properly love black women through his videos. Martika Ivory Rogers, also known as Fat, is his wife. Tobe has been making music with Fat, and Nell, a close friend and the group’s music producer for many years.

What we admire most about Tobe is his unwavering commitment to involving his wife in all of his endeavours. Fat is a fantastic rapper who always adds a unique flair to their performances. Tobe rapped during a performance of one of their songs, Fye FYe, “If you book me for a show, and I can’t bring my wife and my babies, I’m leaving.” Another of his songs, Debo, contains a rap line in which he says, If ya ever touch Fat or Baby Fat Hell ya might as well Buy a casket.

Tobe is constantly on stage with his family, moving and performing together.

We haven’t seen hiphop music done this way before; it’s unique and a breath of fresh air; their music gives hope to black kids in America while also teaching them how to act and be a man who takes care of his business. Songs like “Father Figure” teach black children the proper way to act. Other songs, such as Debo and Day Ones, are about family and taking care of one’s family.

The duo is also overly vocal about their love for their African culture, and Tobe has never stopped talking about his Nigerian heritage.

Tobe Nwigwe, born Tobechukwu Dubem Nwigwe is of Nigerian origin and belongs to the Igbo ethnic group. He has three children with Fat: Ivory “Baby Fat” Nwigwe, Sage Nwigwe, and Chukwueze Nwigwe.

Tobe has received praise from the likes of Dave Chapelle and Erykah Badu, for which he wrote a song titled I’m dope.
