A public family dispute within the Benin royal household has spilled into the open after the Crown Prince of the Benin Kingdom released an emotional statement addressing internal tensions, allegations, and long-standing grievances involving his parents and siblings.
In the message, shared publicly on social media, the crown prince said he felt compelled to speak after receiving numerous messages from concerned members of the public regarding the wellbeing of his mother. He stated clearly that she had done nothing wrong and that her absence from the palace should not be misinterpreted as neglect or misconduct on her part.
According to the statement, tensions reportedly began months ago following an incident involving one of his younger brothers, who allegedly attempted to gain access to the palace to see their father. The situation, he said, led to consequences that affected their mother, despite her not being at fault. The prince stressed that he could not remain silent while false narratives continued to circulate.
